Stocking Northern Eye Books

All our books are carefully selected to meet the needs of the market. New series and their titles are based on close analysis of visitor numbers and other pertinent data. We publish only series and titles that we are confident will sell well.

Key ranges include:

Official Guides to the Wales Coast Path

A series of seven, highly illustrated map-pocket size guides covering the whole of the long-distance, 870-mile Wales Coast Path.
These Official Guides are the only ones endorsed, checked and updated by Natural Resources Wales, the Welsh government body responsible for the creation, day-to-day management and promotion of the Wales Coast Path.

Top 10 Walks

A rapidly growing range of highly illustrated pocket-size books of themed, short circular walks for Britain’s National Parks, the Wales Coast Path and other popular areas.
The Top 10 Walks series was conceived as a recognisable and extendable product range that can be sold to a wide variety of outlets, meets the needs of a broad market, has an attractively low price point, and that has proved to be easy to sell in large numbers via counter top, POS stands and spinners.

Our aim is to fulfil all your operational requirements, from proper market research, excellent design and painstaking quality control to efficient supply and competitive pricing.

Why stock titles from Northern Eye Books?

All our books are written, edited and designed by experienced, professional outdoors people who are members of the invitation-only Outdoor Writers and Photographers’ Guild.

We know and talk regularly to all sorts of outdoor experts who tell us in great detail what they want and happily provide constant feedback on everything we publish. We also work closely with countryside management teams, access officers, rangers and walking groups to ensure we publish only those books that are needed and relevant. By talking to these people, the end users — your customers — we aim to publish only books that will sell, sell well, and go on selling.

Our books are also widely publicised and promoted to ensure constant public interest and awareness, and a ready market.

Sales Support

We also offer booksellers a range of promotional items to support the sales of our books. These include advance reading copies, posters, counter top and POS stands, and counter-top ‘spinners’.

Display stands

Northern Eye Books supply a range of good-looking counter top displays, stands and spinners that make a real difference to customer uptake and sales. Their compact design and small footprint means they fit nicely into most retail spaces.

They are available from most of our regional wholesalers or direct from the publishers. They are also free when ordered full and regularly restocked.

The displays, stands and spinners also come in different sizes to suit most of our titles, including bot the Official Guides to the Wales Coast Path series, and the smaller pocket size Top 10 Walks series for the Wales Coast Path and many of Britain’s National Parks.

Northern Eye Books’ Top 10 Walks books were conceived from the start as discrete series, each exploring popular walking themes in a different UK National Park or other popular or outstanding area.

To increase the books’ appeal, they were deliberately designed to be sold as distinct area-specific series. These series were also designed to fit into and be sold in attractive counter top displays.

The counter top displays have a compact footprint, improve the books’ visibility and help significantly boost sales. They make a real and demonstrable difference to customer uptake. Some outdoor shops in the Lake District even have two stands — one alongside each till.

The robust and attractive displays are FREE if ordered full, are supplied already made-up, and are available from most of our listed wholesalers, as well as directly from the publishers.

Download a PDF here showing a full stand along with details.

– Retailer Endorsements

“Your books sell brilliantly in our shop, they are among our favourites. We recommend them highly to all our customers — beautifully published and excellent content.”

  • Andrea, owner, Wordsworth Bookshop and Coffee Shop, Penrith

“The Top 10 Walks books appeal to all types of walkers; they are small enough to fit in a pocket but packed full of all the information you need to enjoy 10 great walks. Excellent value.”

  • Louise Hughes, Information Adviser, National Park Information Centre – Bowness on Windermere

“The Top 10 Walks series of books are very popular here at the Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre.  They offer an interesting range of walks, suiting a range of interests within the Park. They are a handy pocket size with good illustrations and mapping to help with route finding. Our most popular are Walks to Waterfalls and Walks to Tarns.”

  • Nicky Wood, Team Leader, Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre

“We chose to sell the series of Top 10 Walks at the National Trust Shop in Hawkshead because they are the perfect partner for a trip to the Lakes and for good reason too: the books are easy to use, with stunning photography and are the ideal size to slip into the back pocket.

Very reasonably priced, they are a welcome alternative to the many expensive walking books and each walk has been well researched to make sure that users are able to get the very best from exploring this beautiful corner of England.

A lovely series of books for everyone from the seasoned fell walker to the leisurely stroller.”

  • Melanie Cookson-Carter, Retail Supervisor, National Trust, South Lakes Property
