The Official Guide to what is probably the most popular section of the 870-mile Wales Coast Path is due to be published later this summer. Written by outdoor expert and popular author, Vivienne Crow, the guide breaks the 186-mile Pembrokeshire section of the Wales Coast Path — from Cardigan to Amroth — into fourteen achievable day-walk sections.
The 214 page Official Guide: Wales Coast Path: Pembrokeshire features a useful introduction with plenty of useful information for walks, as well as sections on the history and culture of Pembrokeshire, and its abundant and specialised wildlife. Each section is generously illustrated with some stunning professional photos, too.
The 14 Day Sections each include an introduction and background information on what to see, where to eat and drink, where to stay, shops, taxis, TICs and so on, as well as the best recommended sights along the way. The clear, numbered route directions are backed up by enhanced OS mapping with additional detours and alternative routes. And all checked by Natural Resources Wales and the footpath officers for that section.
The suggested Day Sections are:
Day Section 1: Cardigan to Newport
Day Section 2: Newport to Fishguard
Day Section 3: Fishguard to Pwll Deri
Day Section 4: Pwll Deri to Aber Draw
Day Section 5: Aber Draw to Whitesands Bay
Day Section 6: Whitesands Bay to Solva
Day Section 7: Solva to Broad Haven
Day Section 8: Broad Haven to Marloes Sands
Day Section 9: Marloes Sands to Sandy Haven
Day Section 10: Sandy Haven to Pembroke
Day Section 11: Pembroke to Angle
Day Section 12: Angle to St Govan’s Chapel
Day Section 13: St Govan’s Chapel to Manorbier
Day Section 14: Manorbier to Amroth Castle
The guide is one of a series of seven books covering the whole of the Wales Coast Path. These attractive, OS map-pocket size books contain everything walkers need to walk and enjoy the Wales Coast Path. The series as a whole was commissioned by and is endorsed by the Welsh government body who created and manage the Path, Natural Resources Wales.
