Work on a new book of short circular walks from the North Wales Coast section of the Wales Coast Path has begun. And what a lovely coast it’s turning out to be.

The North Wales Coast stretches for around 90 miles from the outskirts of Chester to Bangor, on the Menai Strait. Along the way there’s a huge variety of landscapes and coastal walks taking in several castles, stone circles, a prehistoric copper mine, a ruined abbey, a lost lighthouse, feral goats, Victorian piers and trams, one of Wales’ largest and most spectacular waterfalls, and plenty of superb wildlife habitats teeming with wildflowers, birds and butterflies.

Walks completed to date include circuits at Holywell, Talacre, Prestatyn and Offa’s Dyke, and a loop upriver to Rhuddlan Castle. Others in the pipeline include routes on the Little and Great Orme, around Conwy Mountain, Penmaenmawr, and Lavan Sands.

All in all, this promises to be a lovely book filled with some genuinely inspiring walks.

We can’t wait to see it in print — early next year.
